• LulzSec Hacks Into The Sun With Murdoch Death Notice

Hacker group LulzSec has just hacked into one of Rupert Murdoch‘s paper’s websites, putting the mogul’s death-by-palladium note on The Sun page. The group announced the hack with a tweet, saying:

We have joy we have fun we will mess up Murdoch’s Sun: http://t.co/JArvwg1 | Hi Rupert! Have fun tomorrow at the Parliament! #AntiSec

Murdoch‘s papers of course, and several of his lieutenants have been implicated in the massive hacking scandal that began earlier this month. Murdoch is scheduled to appear before the British parliament tomorrow.

Despite previous claims of retirement, LulzSec claimed in a tweet that visits to The Sun‘s homepage redirected to the Murdoch death notice page, though that no longer appears to be the case. And in case it gets taken down soon, here’s the full text:

    Media moguls [sic] body discovered

Rupert Murdoch, the controversial media mogul, has reportedly been found dead in his garden, police announce.
Murdoch, aged 80, has said to have ingested a large quantity of palladium before stumbling into his famous topiary garden late last night, passing out in the early hours of the morning.
“We found the chemicals sitting beside a kitchen table, recently cooked,” one officer states. “From what we can gather, Murdoch melted and consumed large quantities of it before exiting into his garden.”

    Chemicals found in house

Authorities would not comment on whether this was a planned suicide, though the general consensus among locals and unnamed sources is that this is the case.
One detective elaborates. “Officers on the scene report a broken glass, a box of vintage wine, and what seems to be a family album strewn across the floor, containing images from days gone by; some containing handpainted portraits of Murdoch in his early days, donning a top hat and monocle.”
Another officer reveals that Murdoch was found slumped over a particularly large garden hedge fashioned into a galloping horse. “His favourite”, a butler, Davidson, reports.
Butler Davidson has since been taken into custody for additional questioning.

  • iOS 4.3.4 iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV Direct Download Links Repository

Apple has released iOS 4.3.4 which is supposed to fix an issue that allows jailbreaking an iOS 4.3.3 device through a PDF vulnerability. Apple describes the technical fixes in a  support document:

Impact: Viewing a maliciously crafted PDF file may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution

Description: A buffer overflow exists in FreeType’s handling of TrueType fonts. Viewing a maliciously crafted PDF file may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.

Users who have jailbroken their devices using JailbreakMe will obviously need to stay away from the update if they want to keep Cydia and other installed jailbreak tweaks.

  • New Images From ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Revealed in New EW Issue!

Although Warner Bros. will own the hype this weekend for their 2012 blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises, and the trailer attached to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, Sony is prepping for next weekend with the first trailer for their 2012 tentpole as the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, running 2 minutes and 30 seconds, will be attached to Captain America: The First Avenger.

Entertainment Weekly also has brand new images and info on the superhero film starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. The confirm that Rhys Ifans will playing The Lizard, something we pretty much knew all along. They also have this quote below:

“Four years after Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire, The Amazing Spider-Man promises to be a “more contemporary,” “more gritty,” and “more character-driven” look at the comic book hero. He’s a hero the 27-year-old Garfield knows well. Growing up, “I related to Peter Parker [Spidey’s alter ego] so much because I felt like someone else inside,” he says. “I loved the comic books and the animated TV series and I even dressed up as Spider-Man as a kid.”

Director Marc Webb, who is making this big blockbuster his sophomore effort added: “Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that’s a Spider-Man story we haven’t seen before.” Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field all co-star in the film and you can see the images and scans below courtesy of iFanboy via thefilmstage.
