• Nuance Voice Technology Baked into iOS 5

In the days leading up to WWDC 2011, Nuance integration got enough speculations for a possible presence in Apples iOS 5. Now Developer and Hacker Chronic seems to have got his hands on iOS 5 build with internal settings — hidden from public, as he tweeted a series of screenshots for what might be settings for testing and troubleshooting. Some of these screenshots show what looks like Nuance voice recognition baked into the iOS.

The screenshots show some options like “mic on space key”, “auto-record input” and “Nuance dictation”, which seem to suggest Apple has been testing ways to integrate additional buttons in the default iPhone keyboard to let users speak and have text transcribed on screen.

Although these settings look interesting, no Nuance announcement in WWDC and everything may be unveiled in fall with iPhone 5 keynote, though.

  • iOS 5 Twitter Notifications Got Leaked

The last minute speculation and “leaked” stuff are becoming popular in every Apple event out there It’s the eve of Apple’s annual WWDC conference and it will not easily go without sort of unconfirmed tidbit gets leaked around.

This time, TechCrunch got their hands on what seems to be a new notification system in iOS 5:

“The last two are particularly interesting given the image above. Again, no clue if it’s actually real or not, but the idea might be right. Notifications that come down from the top bar could be how Apple ends up doing things in iOS 5. After all, this would mimic already existing functionality — when tethering, a blue strip appears along the top; when on the phone, it’s a green strip. Might notifications (or at least Twitter notifications) produce a gray strip?”

iOS 5 is believed to have a “deep” integration with Twitter. Perhaps this leak reveals how Twitter’s notifications will be integrated with the new system.

“But if the Weather app is to be believed, this is clearly a European version of iOS (note the 23 degrees Celsius in the icon instead of 72 degree Fahrenheit as you would see in the U.S.). Second, the Camera app icon is totally different, and looks a little odd being all-black, but who knows, maybe it’s changing. The icons are in the “correct” default order. Finally, if the talk of deep Twitter integration into iOS 5 is to be believed, it’s entirely possible that these new-style Twitter notifications could be working in iOS 5 right out of the box.”

Another possible notification system in iOS 5 might be looking similar to MobileNotifier, a jailbreak only tweak that handles notifications pretty good. Interestingly, the developer behind the tweak, Peter Hajas, was recently hired by Apple to work there.

  • iPhone 5 Production Begins in September With “Lite” Version Possible As Well

Apple’s next-generation iPhone should go into production as early as September, according to one analyst in news first reported by BusinessInsider. This would mean the iPhone 5 wouldn’t hit stores until later this year, or early in 2012. But, could it come along with a smaller model?

According to a note released today, Avian Securities states:

“Supporting out comments over the last month, conversations with yet another key component supplier indicates that production for iPhone-5 will begin in September. This is consistent with Avian findings in the supply chain in recent months and we believe the consensus view is moving towards this scenario. “

Perhaps more surprisingly, Avian believes Apple is also working on a lower-spec/lower-priced iPhone model too.

    They state:

“As a reminder, Avian has uncovered several data-points in recent months pointing to the existence of a lower-spec/lower-price iPhone. A lower-spec/lower-price iPhone has also been speculated in the press and gadget blogs, though we do not believe consensus currently discounts the existence of such a model.”

Lots of stories emerged in recent weeks, indicating the iPhone 5 will not make it at this June’s WWDC event. however, we are waiting for more speculations.
