Banner Notifications Concept
I constantly find the banner notifications in iOS very annoying. That’s why, and until Apple finds another new or enhanced version, I’ve thought of a fix for the current implementation by adding a little “X” on the right part in order to dismiss whatever banner showing instantly.

The last minute speculation and “leaked” stuff are becoming popular in every Apple event out there It’s the eve of Apple’s annual WWDC conference and it will not easily go without sort of unconfirmed tidbit gets leaked around.
This time, TechCrunch got their hands on what seems to be a new notification system in iOS 5:
“The last two are particularly interesting given the image above. Again, no clue if it’s actually real or not, but the idea might be right. Notifications that come down from the top bar could be how Apple ends up doing things in iOS 5. After all, this would mimic already existing functionality — when tethering, a blue strip appears along the top; when on the phone, it’s a green strip. Might notifications (or at least Twitter notifications) produce a gray strip?â€
iOS 5 is believed to have a “deep†integration with Twitter. Perhaps this leak reveals how Twitter’s notifications will be integrated with the new system.
“But if the Weather app is to be believed, this is clearly a European version of iOS (note the 23 degrees Celsius in the icon instead of 72 degree Fahrenheit as you would see in the U.S.). Second, the Camera app icon is totally different, and looks a little odd being all-black, but who knows, maybe it’s changing. The icons are in the “correct†default order. Finally, if the talk of deep Twitter integration into iOS 5 is to be believed, it’s entirely possible that these new-style Twitter notifications could be working in iOS 5 right out of the box.â€
Another possible notification system in iOS 5 might be looking similar to MobileNotifier, a jailbreak only tweak that handles notifications pretty good. Interestingly, the developer behind the tweak, Peter Hajas, was recently hired by Apple to work there.
Twitter will start sending emails out letting you know when a follower retweets or favorites one of your tweets. The company has tweeted the news earlier today. Currently, users receive email notifications when they get new followers or receive direct messages only.
Starting today, we’re rolling out an email notification that lets you know if someone you follow retweets or favorites one of your Tweets.
Some users may find it helpful to know when a tweet of theirs has been particularly appreciated. For the others, email notifications can be turned off/on any time just go to “Settings,” then “Notifications” and “Activity.”
The move may be part of Twitter’s effort to encourage its users to be more engaged with the service however, we welcome these kind of stuff. The notification will be rolled out gradually, so be patient.
It is no secret that Android’s, WP7’s and webOS’ notification system offers far better experience than iOS’ current notification system, which is intrusive at best. Sources close to CultofMac has informed them that Apple is buying a small company to revamp the much criticized notification system of iOS. here is what they had to say:

Apple is working on a new notification system for iOS and will be buying a small company to build its technology into the operating system, according to one of our sources.
Apple’s pop-up notification system for new text messages, voicemails and the like has often been criticized as one of the weakest parts of the iOS. Notifications are intrusive, modal and often cryptic. It’s a mess.
HP/Palm’s webOS banner notification system, on the other hand, has been widely praised for its utility and ease of use. And from this week’s preview, it looks to be getting better.
There were rumors last year that the iPhone’s notification system would be fixed after the chief architect of Palm’s system, Rich Dellinger, returned to work at Apple. However, the system still hasn’t been fixed, and according to our source, Apple is now trying to buy a small app developer to fix it.
Our source, who asked to remain anonymous, didn’t know the identity of the company, except it already has an iPhone app in the App Store.
One candidate is Boxcar, a free app from App Remix that enables push notifications for Twitter, Facebook, and email. Boxcar’s system has been highly praised, especially the new iPad version.
Other than that, we couldn’t find other obvious possibilities for the company Apple is buying. If anyone has a good idea, please leave it in the comments.
