• iOS 5 Beta Hints At Two New Models Of iPad and iPhone

TUAW reports, while digging into iOS 5 beta seeded to developers yesterday, references to two new, unreleased iPad models “iPad3,1″ and “iPad3,2″ discovered. Current iPad 2 models indicated in iOS as iPad2,1 (WiFi), iPad2,2 (GSM) and iPad2,3 (CDMA), the discovery leaves us with a speculation that next iPad iteration getting two models, iPad3,1 for WiFi model, and iPad3,2 being the one with dual GSM/CDMA chip.

A discovery of iPhone4,1 and iPhone4,2 models were also noted in the beta. However, there’s no mention of iPod touch 5th generation in the current iOS 5 beta, leading to speculation that a new iPhone could be announced this Fall along with iOS 5 and iCloud launch, but not a new iPod touch.

Interestingly, there are no mentions of a new iPod touch. If there really is no iPod touch 5 ready to launch in September (the typical iPod refresh time), sources believe it could be because Apple is reserving the spotlight for another member of its iOS family, namely the iPhone 5.

Model identifiers are usually a good indication of new products to come in the next months, the following beta releases could bring more model identifiers in the future.

MuscleNerd one of key members of the Dev Team has confirmed via his twitter the possibility of jailbreak future on iOS 5, and no matter the fact that it will be a tethered solution at least initially, but the Jailbreak community will love to have their hands on it.

iOS 5 beta is available for developers, with public release planned for this fall.

  • Steve Jobs Was Using iCloud in 1997

Here is an interesting description of the iCloud as Apple‘s Steve Jobs describes his personal computing environment at the time— back in 1997. Watch WWDC ’97 keynote below: fast forward to 00:14:00 if you wish.

“I have computers at Apple, at NeXT, at Pixar and at home. I walk up to any of them and log in as myself, it goes over the network and finds my home directory on the server and… I’ve got my stuff wherever I am…”

“…we were able to take all of our personal data, our home directories we call them, off of our local machines and put them on a server, and the software made that completely transparent…”

“…so in the last seven years, do you know how many times I have lost any personal data? Zero. Do you know how many times I have backed up my computer? Zero.”

This is amazing. The App Store hasn’t even reached its third birthday. It’s likely that Steve Jobs will announce the news tomorrow morning, at WWDC’s keynote presentation.
