• Purported iPhone 5 Parts Suggest Separated Camera and Flash?

Components purported to be for the fifth-generation iPhone have sparked new rumors that the device’s camera and LED flash will be separated, and will no longer sit snuggled up to one another in the corner. Strengthening these rumors is a case discovered on trade site Alibaba for an ‘iPhone 5G’, which features a mysterious new hole in its rear.

As noted by cultofmac, these images were first published by Taiwanese site Apple.pro – a site which often gets its hands on Apple component and hardware leaks – and show redesigned components for both the front- and rear-facing cameras. While it’s difficult to establish any technical details at this point, the most obvious difference is that the new rear camera for the iPhone 5 has no LED flash attached.

It’s unlikely Apple will do away with the LED flash completely, so these components lead us to believe that the camera and flash will be separated on the fifth-generation iPhone – possibly to prevent light leakage from the flash into the camera. Backing up this speculation is a case discovered on Alibaba from Kulcase.

Claiming to be an ‘iPhone 5G’ case, this snap-on rear casing features two holes at the top, in addition to an iPhone 5 mockup image that reveals a larger, ‘edge-to-edge’ display and a thinner bezel. While the two holes initially led to speculation that the device would feature two cameras for taking 3D images, it now seems that one is for the camera and the other for the LED flash.

This isn’t the first time case manufacturers have revealed product designs well in advance of their launch. You may remember that cases discovered last year revealed the iPad 2′s new size and design, as well as its rear camera and redesigned speaker. Some manufacturers clearly manage to get their mitts on design specifications for upcoming Apple products way before they’re supposed to.

If these two separated holes on both corners happen to be a camera and flash LED then Heart Rate App (and the like) will not be working on the new iPhone. If the two holes are actually two cameras then this allows for 3D photo shooting, which is a potential possibility?!

  • Next iPhone with 3.7 Inch Larger Screen Image Leaked In China

M.I.C Gadget posts two images of what to appear as a white iPhone with a larger display, possibly the alleged 3.7 Inch according to the rumors emerged recently. The images seem way legitimate. it appears to be closer to 3.7 inches than 4 inches. Of note, the image features a white iPhone bezel with Apple’s new proximity sensor.

The device we seeing here is surely not the white iPhone 4 which appeared in the UK last week. Yes, it has the new proximity sensor, same as the white iPhone 4. Anyway, maybe this is the prototype iPhone with an A5 processor that game developers are using to prepare their iPhone 5 apps.

iPhone 5′s with larger displays have long been rumored with being 4 inches, edge-to-edge display and Joshua Topolsky saying 3.7 inches.

  • Windows App Store Screenshots leaked: Looks Suspiciously Like Apple’s

Images of the new Windows App Store have emerged, showing similar functionality to not only Apple’s App Store, but also the Ubuntu Download Center. Regardless, it is bringing Windows 8, for which these screenshots are taken from, into the next-generation application game. From what we see here, it suggests one will be able to download a vast number of applications, ranging from games to office applications. With applications available like Opera and Angry Birds, it’s clear that Microsoft are following suit with other content providers by opening up to third-party applications.

Since Apple released the Mac App Store, Microsoft has been fighting to get the application store ready for users in time. However, considering Apple’s move to sue Amazon for the use of the name “App Store”, Microsoft could also be in hot water if it continues to use the name. Apple maintains it should have control over the “App Store” name, though Microsoft is contending the challenge.

Though it does look suspiciously similar to the Mac App Store and the Ubuntu Download Center, I don’t think much can be taken from it. Personally, I think it looks strangely similar to Windows Media Player.

Regardless, these rumours we keep hearing about seem to be ringing true week by week as these leaks slip out. What else is Microsoft hiding up their increasingly long sleeves?
