Here are the leaked Windows 8 icons and shapes that Microsoft rejected in the final days before finally unveiling their latest Operating System.
Note: This is totally a humor/fake made up designs to only show how awful design Microsoft chose for their upcoming OS logo.
Microsoft New Metro-style Windows 8 Logo
After Apple‘s OS X Mountain Lion announcement yesterday, Microsoft has unwrapped the new Windows 8 branding. Inspired by metro, the new logo is something Microsoft to brag about in the upcoming months.
The logo uses flat colors and clean lines and shapes to convey the message of Metro and will change color based on the core theme color used in Windows 8. “When you change your color, the logo changes to reflect you,” explained Moreau. Microsoft will use the logo in the new charms bar for Windows 8, adopting the chosen theme accent color. We are expecting to see the new logo in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, due on February 29th.
Personally, this simple approach is one of many reasons let me unwillingly waiting for Windows 8. I just love glossy effects in Windows vista/7 but Windows 8 had to sacrifice that to, apparently, increase performance and in favor to the damned metro interface. “We wanted the new logo to be both modern and classic,” said Microsoft’s Sam Moreau on the official Windows blog. The window is slanted somewhat, in keeping with the manner in which many of the Metro UI’s elements – such as live tiles – behave.

iPhone iOS 5 Outperforms Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone in Browser Benchmark Tests
Here is a cool comparison test which shows the power of iPhone 4S along with iOS 5. The guys at 359gsm recently ran a test including iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3, iPhone 4S running iOS 5 against Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. iPhone 4S significantly outperform Nokia in all benchmark tests.

Xbox 360 Has Biggest Sales Week in History
Xbox 360 has sold 960,000 units in the U.S. during Black Friday week, Microsoft announced today. That makes it the biggest sales week in the history of Xbox.
800,000 of those units were sold within a period of 24 hours. Besides, over 750,000 Kinect sensors were sold during the Black Friday week, combination of standalone and bundled.
“We have seen tremendous excitement from customers for our hot holiday gaming offers,†commented Chris Homeister, senior vice president and general manager of Home Entertainment at Best Buy. “Xbox 360 was among the best-sellers at Best Buy this Black Friday, and is a testament to the continued popularity of the gaming category this holiday.â€
Microsoft added, “Xbox 360 should deliver its eleventh straight month as the number one console in the US. Â With a robust holiday portfolio and the new Xbox LIVE dashboard going live on Dec. 6, we expect holiday momentum to continue, driving Xbox 360 to finish the year as the number one console in the U.S.”
As for the competition, Sony noted strong demand but did not provide a sales figure for PS3, while Nintendo had its best Black Friday for the Wii yet by selling 500,000 units.
