    iOS 5.1 is out for download now, it brings many features such as Siri in Japanese, nice camera app enhancements and other things. You can update directly over-the-air using your iDevice or you can have the full install files below:

    This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:

    • Japanese language support for Siri (availability may be limited during initial rollout)
    • Photos can now be deleted from Photo Stream
    • Camera shortcut now always visible on Lock Screen for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (4th generation)
    • Camera face detection now highlights all detected faces
    • Redesigned Camera app for iPad
    • Genius Mixes and Genius playlists for iTunes Match subscribers
    • Audio for TV shows and movies on iPad optimized to sound louder and clearer
    • Podcast controls for playback speed and a 30 second rewind for iPad
    • Updated AT&T network indicator
    • Addresses bugs affecting battery life
    • Fixes an issue that occasionally caused audio to drop for outgoing calls

    Marvel has announced today that comic classic stories—from the first appearance of the Avengers to the “death” of Captain America—will now be available for purchase on Apple’s iBookstore.

    “With an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, Marvel fans across the world can now purchase over 80 graphic novels with fan-favorite characters like Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Spider-Man and more by launching the iBooks app,” wrote the company on the Marvel Comic News website.

    For a limited time, customers can read the first full issue of New Avengers Vol. 1: Breakout at the iBookstore free of charge.  Go to www.itunes.com/marvelgraphicnovels. or launch the iBooks app and experience Marvel’s digital graphic novels on the iPad, iPhone or IPod touch.

    Apple held its Q1 2012 fiscal earnings call yesterday, and the company posted a record-breaking revenue of $46.33 billion with a net profit of $13.06 billion, 15.43 million iPads, 37.04 million iPhones, 15.4 million iPods and 5.2 million Macs sold.

    here is a roundup of interesting numbers collected by cultofmac from the earnings call to check out.

    • There were 140 million App Store downloads on December 25th alone.
    • 1.5 million iPads are already in use in education institutions.
    • 600,000 copies of iBooks Author have been downloaded since last week’s announcement. 3 million copies of the iTunes U app have been downloaded as well.
    • There were more than 62 million total iOS devices sold in the last quarter, totaling a staggering 315 million iOS devices sold to date.
    • iCloud has 85 million customers.
    • $4 billion has been paid to developers from App Store sales.
    • There is an average of 22,000 visitors per Apple store each week.
    • Apple has $97 billion in cash, with over $60 billion offshore. Apple said, “We’re not letting it burn a hole in our pockets.”
    • Tim Cook noted IDC’s research saying that the tablet (iPad) is expected to overtake PC sales in the US.  Cook said, “We’ll continue to innovate like crazy in the tablet area.” He said, ”People thought it was going to be the year of the tablet. It actually was the year of the iPad.”
