• How Big is Killzone 3 in Terms of Size?

If there’s one thing that says a lot about a game is the size, with Sony’s next big title Killzone 3 releasing soon, just how does it stack up?

Today at JPS headquarters we got quite the interesting package straight from Sony, a prerelease copy of the upcoming title Killzone 3. The Killzone series has a lot going on from amazing graphics to a top class online multiplayer. Fans who might have played the demo may recall a rather large download size, nearly 4 GB in size. So this brings up the question, just how big is Killzone 3? Its quite the understable question, most of the higher file size games are either top tier or have nearly endless things to do; some examples would be Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2, God of War 3 and the highest of all Final Fantasy XIII.

As our first of many topics to give you all the details on this powerhouse, we are happy to announce that Killzone 3 is 41.5 GB making it just a little bit over Final Fantasy XIII making it the largest current Playstation 3 title. This is quite a shock considering the last game (Killzone 2) clocked in with a respectable 12 GB! With this news though, I’m sure you have to be wondering if there’s a data install. I mean most largest games have one, and you want something this nice to run perfectly right? Well we are happy to announce that Killzone 3 officially has NO data install and runs perfectly!

Stay tuned for more information in the days to come.

  • How to take Stunning Interior & Engine Shots in Gran Turismo 5

    Gran Turismo 5

    – This ONLY works in PHOTO TRAVEL w/ a Premium Car.

    – Specifically in only two locations:

    1. Step#1 – In Luzern Chapel Bridge you MUST place your car in location # 2 & #4, #2 is adjacent to the Chapel by the water.
    2. Step#2 – Position your car with the desired interior side you wish to shoot from, keep in mind you do not have alot of free movement with the camera in this location.
    3. Step#3 – Walk as close to the car as you can, either if it’s the rear window, driver side window, passenger side window. etc.
    4. Step#4 – Set your F value all the way up so there is no blur effect
    5. Step#5 – Simply level your camera to the height of the window, and ZOOM IN.

That is all! I have yet to hear anyone do it, you simply glitch through the glass. And this only works in this location, alot of my weird angles are because you can glitch through the whole car itself. So a lot of times you get good angles.

  • Yamauchi on GT5’s Mechanical Damage, Updates, & More

    Gran Turismo 5

Kazunori Yamauchi has been fielding questions from fans on Twitter over the past few hours. The tweets are in Japanese, but with a little help from Google and medhi_san, we can get a pretty good idea of what he’s talking about. Here’s the highlights:

    • Flexible camera angles and “dynamic and wide-area lighting needs” are to blame for the sometimes blocky shadows. Yamauchi admits they are a problem and wants to improve them.
    • Yamauchi appears to consider the possibility of removing the in-game HUD (heads-up-display features) at some point in the future.
    • To unlock the Red Bull X1, you’ll need to complete the “Sebastian Vettel Challenge”, which appears at Level 30.
    • Online “lounge” functionality and other features will be added “one by one”.
    • Polyphony Digital continues to work on fully supporting the Logitech G25 and G27, though Yamauchi admits he would like a “new steering device soon”…
    • Mechanical damage options will be implemented in a new update for GT5 coming “early December”.
    • As you may know, many players noticed that GT5’s face-tracking functionality only worked in Arcade mode. According to Yamauchi, it’s not available in GT mode due to memory issues with the PS3.
    • In-game rewards (such as the monetary prize in GT5 Prologue) for your performance in online events is something Polyphony Digital is considering, and may be implemented in a future update.
    • Gran Turismo 5’s official, 2-disc sound-track will be released soon.
    • Yamauchi wanted to implement a “free roam” gameplay mode in GT5, where players could drive around, respecting speed limits and obeying traffic laws, and even exit the car to walk around and explore the environment on foot.
    • The YouTube replay upload feature had to be pulled from the final version of the game because it took a very long time to render and it consumed too much memory. Yamauchi is still considering it, however.

As always, it is refreshing and exciting to see Yamauchi’s interactions with fans via Twitter. Let’s hope the medium continues to be a valuable open line into Polyphony Digital as GT5 to evolves!

  • What have you done for 6 years Polyphony Digital?

    Kazunori Yamauchi

Gran Turismo 5 has finally launched globally and here why it sucks:

    1. Why can’t you upgrade the brakes? Why are performance upgrades as well as body upgrades so limited?

    2. You can’t paint your car any color unless you’ve owned that car in that color first?

    3. Why are there only 200 premium cars as compared to Forza 3’s 500+ fully premium cars with cockpit views?

    4. Why do some tracks look so bad while others are superb?

    5. Why is there only 2 online play modes?

    6. Why is there no clutch in this game (whats the point of using Logitec G27 wheel with clutch)?

    7. Why is the damage so unrealistic, and the most you get is panels coming slightly off?

    8. The menus are inconsistent by any means.

    9. Why do 800 cars look like GT4 cars but in HD and without cockpit views?

    10. Why there are lots of burned shadows and you hardly get the chance to see a clean dashboard?

    11. There is no “upload to Youtube” feature that promised

    12. No proper settings whether camera tracking, damage, day/night transition are currently turned on/off.

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE FOR 6 YEARS?

This is why the game sucks. It was much of hype & I Was so excited
